Eren Soydal

Eren is the Secretary General at SustainFinance. As a development banking professional specialising in sustainable finance, he bridges financial markets with climate-aligned investment strategies and currently works as a sustainable finance consultant for international projects.

Eren began his career at the TSKB (Industrial Development Bank of Turkey) in the Financial Institutions (FI) department, where he worked to secure funding for the Bank’s balance sheet. He contributed to several green and sustainable bond issuances, international loan facilities, and trade finance transactions, while also playing an active role in investor relations (IR) activities. Later, he served at the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction & Development) HQ in London within the Green Financial Systems team, where he contributed to the Paris Agreement alignment of EBRD’s financial flows, increasing the Green Economy Transition (GET) share of the Bank’s investment portfolio and support financial institutions and regulators in integrating sustainability practices.

Eren is currently leading a London based consultancy called Future Wharf, which provides sustainable finance solutions for debt and equity investors and companies seeking sustainable investments, as well as companies and organisations pursuing sustainability transformation and regulatory compliance.

Eren holds a BA in Economics from Bilkent University and an MA in Finance from Koç University, where he built a strong foundation in financial economics. He later completed his postgraduate studies at the College of Europe in Belgium, with a major in European Economic Integration and Business, where he gained deep insights and EU-level expertise on sustainability regulations. His master’s thesis at the College focused on the impact of EU sustainability regulations on the Turkish economy: “The EU Taxonomy’s Impact on Turkish Economy: What would be the impact of the EU Taxonomy Regulation on Turkey’s alignment with the EU Green Deal and Turkey’s climate change mitigation efforts?”
